The child must first feel cherished and accepted by both mother and father so that he or she will feel protected. Then he or she is ready to be taught. So if this is lacking, an English teacher may face further challenges in emotionally relating to a student. It is not the tutor's duty to work with the parents to bridge this gap, but may be instrumental.

Due to the complexity of maths tuition, home tutoring is a necessity for a lot of Singaporean families. Creating the relaxed atmosphere mentioned above is the solution to making students ready to learn.

In learning English, writing and speaking correctly as well as effectively are part of the learning targets. Mere loads and loads of activities will not bring the preferred improvements. The "relaxed rapport" mentioned above have to be built first.
